Restoration or restomod?
A practical framework for deciding what to preserve, what to renew and what to reimagine.

Decide what must remain
A restoration-led project protects originality and period character. A restomod accepts carefully chosen change. Neither is inherently better; trouble begins when the philosophy is not agreed before work starts.
Provenance, rarity, structural condition and intended use all influence the right approach.
Make changes legible
Modern brakes, drivability, lighting or cabin comfort can make an old vehicle more usable. The best integrations feel coherent with the original vehicle and remain understandable to future owners and technicians.
Record the reasoning
A useful build record explains what was found, what was retained, what changed and why. That record is part of the value of the finished vehicle.
